There are two types of pepino in Indonesia, namely:
- Pepino purple, which has purple skin and white spots with dark purple hue lines
- Pepino white, greenish white or ivory with shades of purple lines that can turn yellowish when ripe.
1. Pepino contain high vitamin C, suitable for treating canker sores, increase endurance, and lower blood pressure. Vitamin C also acts as an antioxidant to slow the aging process, lowers the risk of heart disease, and brain damage. Vitamin C is also needed to produce collagen which is important for growth and repair of damaged tissue. To get the maximum benefit of vitamin C, pepino consumption in the form of fresh food by direct or created juice.
2. Pepino minerals containing potassium, which can help lower blood pressure. Potassium also helps maintain electrolyte body, regulate heart rate, lowers the risk of stroke and heart disease. Pepino consumption is highly recommended for patients with hypertension and heart disease.
